Vehicle Signs

So why don't you have signs on your vehicles?

Is it……
a) because you thought it was too expensive?
b) Worried that signs will damage your vehicle?
c) Can't decide what information to put on it?

Let's talk about some of these issues starting with "It's too expensive." Compare some other forms of advertising, for example a half page magazine ad, lets say it's a reasonably priced magazine and they only charge $1200 per issue and it's a popular magazine so they sell around 20,000 pieces 4 times a year. I agree this is good value and I have myself advertised in magazines. So the final numbers are $4,800 gets you around 80,000 impressions and let's hope as readers are flicking through to find their favourite articles that they catch a glimpse of your 180mm x 148mm ad.

TV ads are even more expensive coming in close to $8,000 for the grand total of 40 ads played in one month and only 10 of those ads are played when "normal" people are watching No one can really tell you how many impressions you'll get because it's a big guess at how many people are actually watching when your ad is played.

Mail outs work there is no doubt about that, I use them myself with sound results, but even still for them to be effective you can be spending around 25c to 30c an impression. So for 15,000 mail outs you're looking at $4000 - $4500 by the time they are delivered.

All of the campaigns above only run for a month or two in which case you then have to turn around and do it all again.

Vehicle signs start at around $250 go up to around $2500 - $3000 for a medium car wrap. Vehicle Signs aren't a monthly issue and they aren't thrown out with waste paper, so you will get a longer life span from them. As for how many impressions you'll get will depend on where, when and how much you drive. On Average vehicles driven for normal business use will pass at least 3000 other road users per day, plus pedestrians. Let's be pessimistic and say your signs will stay on your vehicle for 3 years, this gives you 3,285,000 impressions Wow! that figure even surprised me!

So in comparison to other advertising mediums, vehicle signs, if done properly is by far one of the best buys for your money.

So you have just bought a brand new vehicle and you would like to put signs on it but "No way" you're not going to risk damaging your paint work. Well any stories you've heard are either wives tales, the result of bad vinyl installs or using cheap vinyls.

We have a firm belief that all vehicle signage should be manufactured using the highest quality vinyls. Be very careful when selecting a sign company to do your vehicle signage because it's like this… "Vinyls ain't vinyls,". Sign vinyls can be bought for as little as $1 per metre and for as much as $25 per metre. Guess which one is going to fade, peel up or leave glue behind when you remove it, (That's if you can remove it.) That's right the cheapo vinyl. We don't use it. We only use the highest quality cast vinyls for our vehicle signs. It will not leave glue behind on removal, it will outlast normal calendered vinyls and it will not damage your paintwork at all, In fact it is becoming more evident that a full wrap will actually protect work paintwork.

Of course there are certain factors that can cause your vehicle signs to not perform as well as they should. Applying vinyl to old paint is always a gamble; vinyl adheres to smooth surfaces only, so those older vehicles with the chalky, flaky paint are not going to work as well as a vehicle with new paint. Beware also if your vehicle has been re-painted. Our vinyl will adhere to paint but you have to wonder what would happen if the paint isn't adhered to the vehicle (it has happened)

So don't be afraid to bring in that new vehicle because there is very little chance that our vinyls will damage it.

Now that I have done such a good job on convincing you to put signs on your vehicle and you are all excited about going ahead with it, I bet you're thinking to yourself "Yeah but I don't know what to put on it?" Here are some ideas; Firstly keep it Simple. Most road users will have only 1 - 2 seconds to view your vehicle on the road. Almost every customer who comes into us has a book full of information that they truly believe is necessary to have on their vehicle. It simply is just wasted space as it's not going to get read. The only place on a vehicle for info bullets is on the back window or tailgate of a car because this is the only place people will have time to read it, BUT even still not much time. So the space is better used to have your logo, business name, website or "Call to action" as big as possible. (Don't know what "call to action" is, Google "Call to action marketing".)

Wraps are fantastic ways to create brand awareness but once again people are all to concerned with using all the space available to say more things about their business or to put on it ALL of the 300 products that they sell. This space is better used to draw attention to more important information like your business name, website etc.

Big is good, we are firm believers in "the bigger the better" but negative space is very important as well. For example a sign on the back windscreen of a van and the customer wants the words as big as possible "Rug Sale." 10 points for keeping it simple. If those words were placed right to the outer edge of that window although bigger, they would be harder to read than if that lettering was shrunk to 100mm in from the outer edge. This is where our experienced designers will ensure that you are getting the most out of your signage. We provide a detailed proof for your approval before the vehicle is even booked in, so you know exactly what you are getting.

I'm sure most people didn't even read this far down and you yourself are probably on your way to see us at Coe Design about your new signs, but if for some reason you just need something extra still, Coe Design have a special offer running as we speak, which entitles you to a free set of full colour business cards with every vehicle sign purchased to the value of $250 + GST or more!
